Primate warns clerics against homosexuality

Three New Anglican Bishops – Simeon Borokini, Geoffrey Okoroafor and James Odedeji – have been advised to stop all forms of barbarism and homosexuality in their ministries and Nigeria as a whole.

Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, gave the warning at the new Bishop’s consecration on Sunday in Lagos.

While Borokini, was mandated to take charge of Diocese of Akure; Okoroafor and Odedeji are in control of Egbu and Lagos West respectively.

Okoh said homosexuality and gay marriage were great evils that should be disallowed in the country.

He said, “Practising homosexuality would not be of any help to the nation and the church of God at large. The basis of Christian marriage is between man and woman and not between man and man or the other way round.

“There are lots of immoralities going on in the world today and we do not want our bishops or our members to be involved in any act of immorality. I am calling on our clergies not to allow any influence from any quarter to corrupt the church of Christ.”

While delivering a sermon, Rev Simeon Adebola urged the bishops to re-direct their knowledge and spiritual uprightness towards making the society free from decadence and malpractices.   CULLED FROM: PUNCH NEWSPAPERS February 26, 2013 by Sodiq Oyeleke
