Council boss faults critics of youths
The appointment had drawn negative reaction from members of the public as many said the action was wasteful.
But Oke, in a press briefing to give an account of his stewardship in last one year in office, explained that the appointees were consultants tasked with revenue generation through collection of rates and levies.
Oke said, “We took the step because were determined to ensure good governance through quality service delivery in the face of paucity of funds.
“But it is necessary to correct the erroneous impression in some quarters that the appointment was a waste of public fund. It is not a jamboree but a deliberate effort to engage the youths to boost our internally generated revenue.”
The council boss enumerated projects that had been undertaken by his administration like construction of roads, block of classrooms, purchase of transformers and procurement of drugs and school books.
