Ticketer Allegedly Prints, Sells Fake BRT Tickets
A 22-year-old bus ticketer, Blessing Ayomide, who allegedly sold fake tickets to commuters, was on Thursday in Lagos charged with conspiracy and stealing.
Ayomide, who resides at 5, Parafa Road, Ikorodu, appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates' Court in Lagos State.
The Prosecutor, SP Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 22, at 6:30 p.m., at Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) BRT, Ikorodu.
Agoi said that the accused printed his own tickets and sold them for lower prices than the Lagos State Government sold its tickets.
"The accused printed fake tickets and sold to commuters at N200 for trips to Costain and CMS, rather than the original price of N250.00 and N300 respectively," he said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Code Laws, 2015.
Section 411 stipulates a two-year jail term for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Makanjuola Oshodi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N10,000, with one responsible surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Jan 22 for mention.
