Osibajo, a professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is a protégé of former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
NewsConnect learnt that as at 2.a.m on Wednesday, major stakeholders in the party have agreed on Osibajo.
Osibajo was Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice throughout the administration of Tinubu in Lagos State.
He obtained a Bachelor of Law from the University of Lagos, and a Master of Law from the London School of Economics.
Osibajo is a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi is expected to head the APC Presidential Campaign Committee. Party leaders are prevailing on Amaechi to accept the appointment.
Amaechi has shown more interest in being Buhari's running mate.
Former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Dele Alake, has been drafted to head the media team of the APC presidential campaign.
Former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, is expected to head the Logistics Unit of the Buhari campaign.
With the planned announcement of Osibajo as Buhari's running mate, Tinubu has had his way.
The delay in the choice of Buhari's running mate was due to the insistence of Tinubu to be the choice.
Buhari emerged the APC presidential standard bearer on December 11 at a convention in Lagos.
The former Head of State clocks 72 today.
But party leaders kicked against Tinubu's ambition due to the opposition to Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Amaechi, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, and former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi have shown interest in being Buhari's running mate.
National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Tuesday announced that Buhari will make public his choice for running mate today.
"I have a feeling that the candidate will speak to you by tomorrow. The party has consulted with the candidate and we have reached some agreements and he will address you on it.
