Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. Nigeria's Super Eagles on Saturday, defeated Congo 2-0 in Pointe-Noire in an African nations cup qualification encounter. Striker, Ike Uche, converted a second half penalty before China-based Aaron Samuel scored a late goal to brighten the hope of the Super Eagles who are now likely to qualify for the nation's cup.

2. The state Chairman of the Rivers State's PDP, Mr. Felix Obuah had cautioned aspirants contesting on the party's platform to show decorum and avoid making unguarded statements that could tarnish the image of the party. Obuah was reacting to statements credited to some of the governorship aspirants who have continued to condemn the failure of the party to zone leadership positions in the state.

3. The repatriation of South Africans who lost their lives in the collapsed synagogue building has started as military personnel, forensic experts and pathologists arrived to identify and repatriate the bodies of their compatriots on Saturday (yesterday).

4. Former senior military officers have asked President Goodluck Jonathan to declare real war on Islamist Boko Haram. The retired senior officers, including a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, have been advised to cut off food and fuel supplies to the insurgents to weaken their strength.

5. The United Nations has disclosed that the population of Nigerian refugees in a Cameroonian camp has tripled in two months, after they were displaced by terrorist activities of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

6. Report says mother of Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, Hajia Ramotalahi Ahmed has passed on. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, said Hajia Ramotalahi Ahmed, aged 90, died on Saturday after a brief illness.

7. National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on Monday, celebrated his birthday. In the celebration, he gave out cheques of N50,000 each to about 30 disabled individuals from different parts of Delta State. He also advised the federal government to stop any further negotiation with the Boko Haram sect.

8. The Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, at the weekend showed deep concern over current happenings in the country, calling for prayers and commitment to the social welfare of the people.

9. There was crisis yesterday, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, when some armed thugs invaded a centre of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Oke-Efon in Abeokuta North local government area of the state, injuring over ten persons in the attack

10. The Edo State Police Command, while parading 76 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and child defilers said the command would set up a special squad to track illegal arms from ordinary people and politicians. The state Police Commissioner, Mr Foluso Adebanjo made this disclosure.
