Nestle MD stresses importance of quality water

of Nestle Nigeria Plc have warned Nigerians against the consumption of
suspicious water, especially the water that is deficient in Zinc.
Managing Director/Chief Executive of
Nestle, Mr. Dharnesh Gordon, gave the advice at the public presentation
of the Nestle Pure Life Protect in Lagos.
Explaining some of the efforts by the
company in making quality water available to Nigerians, Gordon said only
clean water would aid healthy living.
He said, “We work to achieve efficiency
across our operations by excelling in the reduction of direct water use
in all our facilities.
“Also, we advocate effective water
policies and stewardship by promoting public policies that place value
on water at every level.
“It is important to treat effectively
the water being discharged, by setting targets for returning clean water
to the environment; and engaging with suppliers, especially those in
agriculture, by helping to improve their water management, with focus on
impacts at watershed level.”
Gordon said Nestle, as a socially
responsible company, “raises awareness about water access and
conservation by engaging employees, communities and consumers in the
water imperative.”
He recommended putting risk assessments in place to safeguard sources of water against any potential risks.
“We believe strongly that good hydration
is at the heart of a healthy lifestyle. We also believe that when it
comes to hydration, bottled water is the healthiest packaged beverage,
due to its absence of calories, its controlled origin, its outstanding
quality, its taste and convenience,” he added.
Country Business Manager of the company,
Mr. Adewale Ojo, added that the organisation had carried out proper
research before producing the Pure Life Protect water brand.
