No fewer than 200 women from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-South geo-political zone are expected in Asaba on September 18 for a prayer summit for peace in the country.
Deaconess Roli Nere Uduaghan, the wife of the Delta State Governor, said this when women leaders from the zone, led by Chief Elizabeth Essien paid her a courtesy visit in Asaba at the weekend.
Deaconess Uduaghan said the state would host the prayer session because of the importance of prayers for peace and development of the nation.
She noted that the nation needs prayers, especially at this time of its national development for peace to prevail in the country.
The governor’s wife urged women in the country to always engage in prayers for the peaceful co-existence in the country.
She also urged the women to see Nigeria as a son and hold prophesy over it for peace to continue to reign.
She added: "This is not the time for talking but time for everybody to go back to God in prayer because it is only God who can really change the present situation of the country for the best.
"We need to call upon God sincerely and I know God in His infinite mercy respond to our cry."
She commended the women for the initiative, adding that it was a welcomed development.
Deaconess Uduaghan said each state in the zone would be expected to send 20 delegates to the prayer summit, while the host state, Delta would send more delegates.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Chief Essien commended the governor's wife for her passion for the less privileged women, children and widows in the state.
Essien noted that her women and widows empowerment schemes have been very helpful to women in the state and urged her to sustain the good job she is doing in the state.
