Uba commends Police for low crime rate

The Senator Representing Anambra South in the Senate, Andy Uba, on Tuesday lauded the Police for the low crime rate recorded in the country, particularly in the South-East during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Uba, in statement, also commended the Federal Road Safety Commission for the smooth-flow of traffic in most parts of the country.
He said the pro-active steps adopted by the Police helped to curtail crimes like kidnappings and bombings during the Yuletide.
The statement read, "I must commend the Police under the able leadership of Mohammed Abubakar for making the country safe during the Christmas and New Year festivities. There is no doubt that the visible presence of well-armed policemen on our highways, especially in the South-East, helped to keep kidnappers, armed robbers and other evil men like bombers away from carrying out their heinous crimes.
"The calm and peace that reigned in the South-East made people from the zone who travelled far and near to their communities to enjoy the season without fear.."
Uba added that it was particularly gratifying that the FRSC deployed most of its officers and men in the highways to control traffic thereby ensuring free-flow of traffic and minimising carnage on the highways.
