Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi sacks 3000 workers over certificate forgery

The axe fell on 3000 workers of the Oyo State Government today as Governor Abiola Ajimobi approved their dismissal.
Ajimobi's Special Adviser, Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, hinted of this today in a release signed by him.
Adedayo explained the development was the outcome of the painstaking audit of the staff of the state government which unveiled series of fraudulent practices relating to certificate forgery, indiscipline and continued collection of government pay even after official disengagement from service.
The release stated, "The Oyo State government is committed to improving the lot of workers in the state. It has done this in the last one year by paying more attention to workers' welfare and promotion as at when due. It will not, in the spirit of the new Oyo State that it is bent on having, continue to abet the continued service of workers who forged their certificates, ages or who violated their rules of engagement, to stay a day longer in the workforce. It is like a cancer which, if not promptly checked, can eat up the whole of the system,"
