Keshi ready to drop Victor Moses and Utaka

Ahead of Nigeria’s game against Rwanda, MTNFootball has reported that coach Stephen Keshi is set to drop the duo of Victor Moses and John Utaka.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi is to axe Victor Moses and John Utaka as he goes for goals against Rwanda in a 2013 Nations Cup qualifier.

Both Europe-based stars are yet to score for the Eagles under Keshi and a top team official informed only MTNFootball.com that will now opt for Enyimba striker Uche Kalu to start against Moses, while Ahmed Musa will get the nod ahead of Utaka.

Top teams official further informed MTNfootball.com that Keshi is worried over his team’s poor scoring record as they have only managed two goals in two World Cup qualifiers this month.

“He is really worried over the team’s inability to put away the many chances they create,” the official said

“He therefore intends to make changes in the midfield and upfront against Rwanda.”

There are strong indications that Keshi will now start Uche Kalu ahead of Wigan’s Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa for John Utaka and Raheem Lawal would be preferred to Obiora Nwankwo, who disappointed in Malawi.

Meanwhile, Torino of Italy midfielder Nnamdi Oduamadi remains a major doubt for Saturday’s clash against Rwanda in Calabar.

Oduamadi is still in Lagos undergoing treatment on a hip injury sustained during training ahead of the Namibia game in Calabar.

“It was expected that the player would make the Rwanda game but from all indications he would again not be fit for the game” said a team official.

The heavy downpour on Tuesday morning in Abuja forced the Super Eagles to cancel training.

“Yes, the training was called off due to the rain,” confirmed team spokesman Ben Alaiya.

“However, we will train in the evening in Calabar in readiness for the Rwanda match.”

Twenty four players trained in Abuja on Monday evening under the supervision of Keshi.
