Stakeholder canvasses for management skill

A business stakeholder, Mr. Olusegun
Agboola has blamed inadequate managerial and leadership skills for the failure
of many businesses in Nigeria.
Agboola while delivering a keynote address at
a pre-induction lecture
organised by the Institute of Business Relationship
Management of Nigeria in Lagos noted that businesses will only develop when
there is adequate training on managerial skill for top company personnel.
According to him, mismanagement in the
country is a major issue that needs to be looked into to enhance national
growth in the country.
He said, “A good businessman must possess a
good quality of change which can only be brought about by good skill in
management and leadership. The understanding of human relationship and self
management must be grinded in the person, because this is the only way through
which good marketing strategies can be developed for development. Many Nigerians lack good management control
strategy which makes it difficult for them to declare their objective and
vision.
The insurer also emphasized that it was
also necessary to develop good human relations, stating that it would enhance
the understanding of individual needs and creates room for improved performance
and patronage.
“Management helps to remove that obstacle
to better performances and accelerate meeting of organisation’s objective for
positive influence. It guides the work, and develop the staff,” he said.
The acting
President of the group, Mr. Jide Johnson represented by a lecturer from the
Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Mr. Femi Osuntoki, encouraged that the
practice of business relationship saying that it affects daily performance and
career.
Johnson who
is the Head of Mass Communication Department, NIJ, said,"Business relationship management
is the only remedy to business management which will go a long way in solving
socio-economic problems.
"It
makes you reliable, dependable and unique in the business world.You should also
display high degree of probity, integrity and transparency in the course of
your business, as this will make you an
outstanding business relationship manger," he added.
