Mothers important in fight against breast cancer –Cadbury
November 21, 2013 by Sodiq Oyeleke
There is a need to engage mothers in the campaign against breast cancer to tackle the disease, Managing Director of Cadbury Nigeria, Emil Moskofian, has said.
He said this during a breast cancer
awareness programme in collaboration with a non-governmental
organisation, Run-for-a-Cure-Africa.
During the programme, a 6.6-kilometre run was embarked upon by hundreds of participants.
Moskofian said, “The fight against
cancer is a very important programme. There is a need for people to be
more aware of it and mothers are very important agents. Everyone must
look after their health in a way that is good for the general public.
“We always identify with mothers and all
that is dear to them. We cannot stand idle and watch the lives of
women be cut short by this deadly disease when we can help educate
people.”
He explained that efficient funding and support would aid researches into how the disease could be eradicated.
“We have long been at the forefront of a
campaign to raise the awareness on breast cancer and to spread the
message that early detection is an effective way to fight the disease.
“The 2013 Run-for-a-Cure-Africa event
not only helps raise the awareness of breast cancer; it also provides
hope for victims through funding for researches into more affordable
ways of curing and preventing the disease.”
Also, Bournvita Brand Manager, Mr.
Mobolaji Alade, added, “We feel that mothers are the gate keepers to the
children. We need to be with the mothers all of the time in health and
in sickness, so that they will continue to bring up the children in the
right manner.”
